Hmm, I was in my third year of college and very, very serious. I was President of my sorority and also applying to Law Schools and so I was very busy and nuts. Don't know how much I slept then. Went out with a guy who was a filmmaker, kind of an odd sort (heh), we went together for over a year but he really didn't want to commit to anything further and I was coming to the realization that I didn't need to waste my time in such ways.
What else? I recall that summer I worked for my Dad's company (well, he didn't own it, he just worked there) as a switchboard operator. 600 telephone extensions. I used to dream about answering the phone.
But I also learned there that there were (are) a lot of people who really like my Dad. I would walk down the halls of that company and people would come and introduce themselves --
You're B___'s daughter? He's a great guy. Everybody likes him. -- and that was so neat. I got to know my father more as a peer than as a parent. We used to carpool and eat lunch together and it was a special time.
I had some good friends, mainly sorority sisters but I did have a great roommate and actually I just got back in touch with her recently, which is pretty cool. She lives nearby, she and I are thinking of getting together but life keeps intervening. I work too hard and she has stepchildren and so we can't seem to find the time.
Hey, Miss spidergal, this would make a great topic ....
