I was really tired of smoking at that point, almost embarrassed about it, and wanted to quit. Then my mother passed away and altho' she smoked until they wheeled her into the emergency room for the last time, she'd always wanted me to give them up so on her birthday, in her honor, I did. I was prepared to go with the patch or something if I couldn't do it cold turkey but wanted to first try it on my own.
You had a baby to consider. Good for you! I never understood how women could continue to smoke while pregnant. If you can't give them up for your unborn child's health... the guilt would have eaten me alive.
My husband really wanted to quit also but couldn't as long as I continued smoking so in part, I did it for his sake as well but then, after about a month without cigarettes, he foolishly started smoking those little cigars?-just to take the edge off?- and of course, transferred his habit. Now he smokes about three or four Black & Milds a day. I smoke them too. Maybe one a month or so. Thankfully, they never took ahold of me.
rfromp, you're passed the hard part. Passed the drug habit. Now it's merely an emotional thing. You can do it!
