Setanta--

Happy Birthday played on a Lute strung with dog hair. I'm charmed.

Lion Tamer--

Friendship accrues compound interest. Please give your wife my greetings and tell her that I think she's a lucky woman.

I was just visiting an old friend of mine and I mentioned the fact that today was Noddy's birthday. My friend, Vladimir Grotsky, looked at me and said, "Gustav, who the hell is Noddy?"

"Sorry, Vladimir, I thought I had mentioned her in past correspondence. She's that dame from A2K who always goes on about the dominion stuff. Remember?"

Suddenly light appeared in Vladimir eyes, his face brightened, and he hoisted his glass and told me, "Noddy! Of course I remember her, Gustav. You tell her I am having this one in her honor"......

Then he staggered away. I could hear his voice as he disappeared into the distance. He was singing, but the words were Russian and I couldn't understand them very well. But every other word was "Noddy".

I believe it was some sort of tribute.

He looks like a cross between Boris Yeltsin and W.C. Fields.

Gus--

While I appreciate the sentiments--what lady wouldn't relish being toasted in vodka from her hiking boot--I'm not getting in a troika with you and Vladimir. I know when the wolves started pursuing our Merry Band across the frozen steppes, you two would chuck me out to lighten the load.

Calamity Jane--

Beware, woman. Beware.

Intrepid--

Roses crossed with triffids. Thank you.

Roger--

Our years of experimentation overlap. Thanks for the sentiment.

Sozobe--

I appreciate the words of hope. Sixteen more days.

Mac--

The Queen of Cups? I am not worthy of the grail, but I appreciate the thought.

Boomer-- You, too, are too kind.
