My Thanksgiving Day without Boomerang.

As most of you know Boomerang, the pesky site member familiar to us all, is, in actuality, a dear friend of mine. Or, I should say....was. We had a rift a few years back and haven't spoken since. We were quite angry with each other and, to tell you the truth, I haven't thought of her much. I just sort of erased her from my memory bank.

But certain events trigger memories and one such event happened yesterday.

As we were eating our meal I noticed a large turkey leg, golden brown, near the edge of the plate and I thought of her, from years gone by -- the way she used to sit at the dining room table , constantly fidgeting with her colorful floppy hat, and when the turkey leg was presented her eyes would widen and she would always say, "turkey leg!" in that excitable voice of hers.

With a tear running down my face, I reached across the table, grabbed the leg, and hoisted it in the air. The conversation stopped and all eyes turned to me. In a solemn voice I said "To Boomerang."

"Indeed...to Boomerang", Cletus chimed in.

The clinking of glasses and hoisted turkey parts ensued as all present saluted that crazy, mixed-up lady.

Then the meal continued and the conversation drifted elsewhere

<sniff>

Hoisted turkey parts always make me cry.

Ya'll miss me?

Even Gertrude?

The last time I saw her I was dodging buckshot.

How is Cetus? Still as handsome as his daddy?

He legal yet?

I might be headed thataway......

.... seeing as how I'm forgiven and all.

A tear just rolled down my cheek at the heartening thought that Gus and the Boomer might yet get together again. I am so happy I'm crying like a baby.

boomer, you know gustav is planning a trip to the Northwest,
so this is his ever so subtle approach to an invitation.
