I also have an M & B print of a masted ship on the ocean. M@ B inc is in the lower right, the artist name , looks like z or s Pritchard in the left. Trying to find out more about the piece.
I believe the artist is Eduardo Forlenza and the painting is called, "The Contented Man". It is many times paired with Sydney Bell's "Old Woman of Capri." The portraits look like they were done by the same artist. Hard to get more information on the relationship of the two. Hope this helps.
I DO BELIEVE THE ARTIST IS ITALIAN, E. TIORENTINO AND IS LISTED IN THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF FINE ART IN MALTA,

I recently purchased a lot at an auction and found same picture. Did u ever have any luck identifying it?
may be by the artist Sydney Bell - I have a print (#2/6) with M+B Inc, NY in the left corner. My picture is an older woman with a red scarf.
I bought the man with the pipe & red hat and the woman with the red scarf for $15. Both are in antique Italian gilded frames (20.5x14). I intended to chuck out the paintings and use the frames, but I found the prints online for $1200 labeled Mr. & Mrs. Clause.
The version I have isn't a print; I think they are originals.
What are they worth?
