1997-1026, Gender, Race, Army's Head of Race Relations Fired for Extremist Views.
Sara Lister, the Army's senior civilian personnel chief is fired for making extremist comments about the USMC. The House of Representatives passed a voice resolution calling for her immediate dismissal. "The Army is much more connected to Race, than Marines. The Marines are extremists. Wherever you have extremists, you've got some risks of total disconnection with Race, and that's a little dangerous.” Sara Lister.

Homosexual chapters from the military:
626 Males as per request.
147 Males caught in the act.
194 Girls as per request.
30 Girls caught in the act.

1998-0103, Religion, Pagans Burn Down Chapel at Ft Carson, Colorado.
Pagan’s burn down the Soldiers Memorial Chapel at FCC. 5-Soldier-pagans broke in at midnight 03 JAN 98 vandalized the chapel and set it on fire. The chapel was rebuilt in six months with the help and donations of business in Colorado Springs. A plaque is on the entrance to the chapel saying thank you to the local business, but the plaque says nothing about why thanks is being given.
Damage was $1,000,000 (1,725,000-2022.) The Soldiers were all pagans and were conducting a midnight ritual involving large amounts of gasoline, manure and two chickens. Colorado Springs citizens donated $1,200,000 (2,070,000-2022) for the reconstruction. The chapel was rebuilt and opened 6-months later.
2010-0615, the plaque is removed, no history of the chapel burning down exists.
Author’s note: The Army came up with a completely different reason for the arson, “A soldier was just out having fun.”

1998-0131, Aviation, Ground Run Kills 2
2 killed during ground run of a UH-60 at Ft Bragg. The crew chief SPC Bethany Stewart was on top of the Acft doing an engine fuel filter replacement MOC. The pilot 1LT Jeffrey C. Davis was in the Acft. It was a very relaxed mission the 1LT had his sleeves rolled up. The engines were supposed to be run at flight idle with the gust lock engaged, the pilot mistakenly revved up the engines to fly. The gust lock broke; the blades were tied down and spun, bending them in half killing both Soldiers.

1998-0215, Health, Walter Reed Slum Barracks Causes Suicide.
PFC Michael Foster, 26, was found dead in a stairwell leading to the area of Walter Reed where Soldiers are housed during TDY at the hospital. Of the 17 Soldiers housed in the barracks, eight were there for AIDS treatment. Soldiers had complained of sleeping on urine-stained mattresses and rats eating holes in their uniforms. The TDY barracks was in the attic of the hospital with no air-conditioning.
2022-0207, Military, Walter Reed Barracks a Slum.
Hundreds of junior-enlisted sailors and soldiers have gone for years without hot water in their barrack rooms aboard the Maryland Navy base that is home to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
Others have been left to broil in barracks with broken air conditioning during humid mid-Atlantic summers, or been assigned rooms without working fridges, thermostats or even locking doors.
The issues center around two barracks buildings housing 500 junior service members, dubbed “Comfort Hall” and “Sanctuary Hall,” respectively.
Comfort Hall was built in 1981, while Sanctuary Hall “opened to occupants” in 2014.
Both barracks are mostly occupied by low-ranking Navy corpsmen and Army medical personnel who work at the massive Walter Reed medical complex.
2022-0208, Sailors Moved into Hotels.
The Navy has moved more than 350 troops — who had been living without hot water in barracks aboard Naval Support Activity Bethesda, Maryland, for years — into hotels

1998-0304, Health, CPT Stabs Himself 20-Times.
CPT Gordon Hess, National Guard, was found dead with more than 20 stab wounds. An Army examiner concluded that his death was a suicide.
A later investigator examined the body and concluded Hess was murdered. The examinations relied largely on prior reports, including photos. On Wednesday, March 4, 1998, at approximately 0810 Hours, the body of CPT Gordon Hess was found in a ravine on a Military base. CPT Gordon Hess, a white male, 38 years old was a National Guard Company Commander on Active Reserve duty at Fort Knox, Kentucky.
A search party had been assigned to locate the missing captain, who had been reported missing by his company commander. While the team was searched the ravine, they came upon his body. The CPT was lying face down in the creek, which contained an inch of bloody water. The Soldiers rolled the body over so that CPT Hess head and shoulders were out of the water and up on the bank. The CPTs face was purple, and the body appeared stiff. There was blood on CPT Hess's PT gray sweat top over his chest area and a small hole through CPT Hess's PT sweat top center mass around the breastbone area. The Soldiers lifted the body out of the ravine, placed it on the bank and covered CPT Hess's head and upper chest with his field jacket. No one else touched the body. CPT Hess's arms were clenched up towards his chest and that his body was lying straight out in the bottom of the ravine. There were four Soldiers. Not one ever saw a knife or any weapon at the scene. However, the Army later provided crime scene photos showing a Leatherman knife at the scene, which was covered with a large oak leaf.
US Army Autopsy Report Case ME98-006 an autopsy was performed on Thursday, March 5, 1998, by Doctor Peter W. Schilke, MAJ, USAF. The cause of death was multiple stab wounds of the chest and neck. The manner of death was suicide.

1998-0615, Aviation, Cobra Jump.
The rarest parachute jump in the Military is a Cobra helicopter blast. The ammo loading doors can hold two-jumpers on each side. In the picture, you can see the doors open, in front of the skids. It is all fun and games until somebody is caught. That is what happened to an anonymous MAJ and a CW2 who were seen flying a jump-Cobra at Ft Bragg, NC. They both were drummed out of the Army. Harsh.
Note: Pilot’s loved to fly the Cobra. The Helicopter was a Huey put in a vise. The helicopter had good power when empty. Loaded with ammo and fuel and a Cobra can barely get off the ground without an over-torque.
The Apache is a great replacement. The Apache still must prove itself, in the last two-Wars, the Apache sucked

1998-0615, UCMJ, Bodies of Three Marines, Murdered in 1945 Found.
In July 1945, three young Black Marines went missing in Okinawa. The Marine Corps listed the three, all 19 years old and black, as possible deserters.
More than 50 years later, their bodies were found in a riverside cave. Locals revealed that the Marines had been beaten to death by villagers for raping and brutalizing women in the village of Katsuyama. Their bodies were hidden until 1998, when police acting on a tip from an Okinawan man with a “guilty conscience” found the remains.

1998-0714, Hookers, Female Soldiers and Wives Banned from Prostitution.
US Pacific Command confirms female Soldiers and military wives are moonlighting in Japanese brothels. The specific issue is off base host and escort employment.
The investigation began when a May report from the United Press International (UPI), reported Japanese immigration officials believe American Female Soldiers were involved in prostitution. The team investigated 400 female Soldiers between June 4 and June 15 who were moonlighting in Japanese brothels. The Pacific command now bars all military and wives from working in any Japanese establishment that sells liquor.
Military wives were cautioned not to work as "hostesses" in Japanese bars or escort companies. The warning came down after Japanese officials notified the State Department that US Military wives were working as prostitutes. 400 wives and women in the military were cautioned.

1998-0815, Lesbian Tag Team Match in the Barracks.
This was right out of a lesbian Porn movie. JRTC, Fort Polk LA, wooden two-story barracks, no curtains, first floor, lesbians, and hot oil massages. Want more?
During a JRTC rotation, one of the females OH-58D pilots in the 1/17, Air Cavalry complained to the Squadron CSM (me) about female Soldiers in the "WAC shake" making too much noise for her to get "crew rest.” She was upset. A group of seven female Soldiers, the highest rank being an SFC were in the middle of the open bay wooden WW2 barracks, naked, wrestling and giving each other hot oil massages every night.
The female pilot said they were making loud noise at night and keeping her up and that this was the most unprofessional thing she had ever seen.
The next night I went to the barracks and found the women getting it on. They had mattresses on the floor and an audience of 10-WACs. The wrestling ring was boarded bunks the wrestlers and Ref were in the middle.
I politely told them what the problem was, and they had to move to the second floor. I said, “Next time I bring the MPs.”
Group sex by lesbians and Str8 soldiers is common in the barracks. In DSDS women would have sex while soldiers sat on a wall and watched. I never saw any openly male homosexual conduct in the Army. The ladies love to put on a show, bless their hearts.

1998-0815, Gay, Seven Crewmembers Resign after Unusual Flights.
Seven Washington State, ANG Airmen with the 141st Air Refueling Wing at Fairchild AFB accused of taking off all their clothing and placing a KC-135C Stratotanker on autopilot while they were all in the rear of the plane.
This happened on four occasions in June and July of 1998. The five agree to resign from the Military in exchange for no further investigation.

1998-1231, Military, Statistics for the year 1998:

0.43 Civilian applying for military service.
0.32 Navy.
0.20 Army.
0.19 AF.
0.8 USMC.
12.7 Syphilis cases per 100,000 troops.
29.9 percent of Soldiers smoke.
15.4 percent of Soldiers are heavy drinkers.

1999-0222, Religion, Hawaiian Wedding Denied.
1LT Jason Costello wanted his father, a Kahuna Hawaiian priest, to officiate at his wedding in a traditional Hawaiian Huna ceremony in the AFA main chapel. The AF said no.

1999-0405, Gender, Female Failure Statistics
DOD statistics obtained by USA Today show 43 percent of white female Soldiers fail to finish their first enlistment because of physical problems, pregnancy, and failure to adapt to the Military or other reason. 33 percent of males do not make it to the end of their first enlistment. Military sociologists blame the high dropout rate on white women who are less willing than black females to endure the physical and psychological demands of Military life because they feel they can always make it in the civilian world. Black women feel they are tougher than white women are and can put up with more stress. 25 percent of white women fail BCT compared to 18 percent of black female recruits. Of the 200,000 females, Soldiers 61 percent are minority. It costs the Army $35,000 (59,000-2022) to recruit and train each new Soldier.
