I realize that history is no longer taught in schools and that “reading” is homework assigned by mean teachers!🙁
But I also know that there’s dinosaurs like me who enjoy a good discussion among knowledgeable people!😎
That said, here’s an interesting 45 minute video from YouTube about the USA’s original firearm manufacturer.

BYW, is there a way to directly embed a video clip?

a2k ain't what it used to be.

we lost a large percentage of our membership to other social media platforms, and others to the natural passage of time.

in it's hay-day this place was really jumping -- hundreds of posts a day, debates, fights, fun stuff...

Still not getting it. I wish I knew how to decipher computer hieroglyphics!
I can tune a flintlock rifle, a points ignition system and a 4 bbl carburetor, but computers I damn near powerless over!🤬
Doesn’t matter.
I came seeking asylum from trolls and idiots who took over the forum I was part of from the git go!😎
I’m a history nerd myself. My Dad was a history nerd too, and Gettysburg and Antietam were yearly pilgrimages for the family.
I grew up in a house long before cable TV. If you wanted entertainment, you read a book!
So I read American History. From French & Indian Wars to WW2.
I’m a gun nut. Hunting and recreational gunfire are my biggest hobbies. Stemming from that I have been getting into Civil War artillery, especially field cannons.
We’ll see if we can’t get some discussions going.

@Pennsyltucky Redneck,
Where in PA? I spent formative years (as in, I ended up with the accent) in King o' Prussia. I well recall class trips to Valley Forge and Gettysburgh.

@jespah,
Way west of where you were! Somerset/Bedford Counties: that’s why we call it Pennsyltucky!
Very few people realize that Pennsylvania consist of two separate states in one set of state lines.
You’ve got from Harrisburg and the Susquehanna east, which is a New England state like liberal Massachusetts and in the western part which is pretty mountainous and mostly rural farm country, much more conservative and laid back like most of Kentucky!😎
I had an aunt and uncle who had lived in Warminster, but I haven’t been further east than York in over 20 years, and if Wifey listened to me we wouldn’t have been to York!😀
I told her route 416, the York Poad where Benner's Hill , the artillery position.
She puts in the address 416 York Road and heads 20 miles east before I realized it!😡
Dumber than a hay rake in a cornfield!🥹

BTW NeptuneBlue what the heck’s up with you?
I’m here looking for discussions about history, and you wanna talk about penises?

@Pennsyltucky Redneck,
Yeah, PA's kind of a schizophrenic state (as is Tennessee in a lot of ways; you get out of the bigger cities like Memphis and Knoxville and it becomes très rural) in terms of look and feel. I had cousins in Oak Ridge but I think they've all moved out by now.

I've been to Pittsburgh (many years ago) and to all the surrounding states but not really to the Allegheny mountains. Hmm. We should do a mountain topic methinks.

Anywho, I need to grab dinnah and all, 'cause try as I might, it doesn't magically appear.

@jespah,
Isn't Chris Matthews from Pennsylvania? When he speaks he uses a few word's that sound like Baltimore-ese. Not hard Baltimore but a softer Baltimore.
