Hi everyone, I’m trying to find dependable adult home care for my uncle in Washington, but I’m honestly not sure where to begin. He needs some help with daily activities at home, and I want to make sure he’s getting the right support. I’ve been searching online but the options are a bit overwhelming, so I’d really appreciate any suggestions or guidance from people who have gone through this before. Thanks in advance!
@marywilliamss,
In my town, we have a service called Center for Independent Mobility. This would not be one of their services, but they could surely recommend someone.
You might see if your town has a similar service.
@roger,
That’s a good point. Organizations that focus on independent living or mobility often keep lists of local resources, even if they don’t provide the service themselves. It might also help to check with the local Area Agency on Aging in Washington—they usually have directories of vetted in-home care providers and can explain what kinds of support are available. Sometimes a quick call there can narrow down the options quite a bit.
@marywilliamss,
Washington, DC or Washington state? My dad was in independent living then eventually in a nursing home in DC, all part of the Charles Smith Life Communities.
Their waiting lists are years long, FYI, and the same may be true for other such places.
