Sent message will not show up on my computer

I've run into a problem. All of a sudden when I send one of my facebook friends a message on messenger I hit the send arrow, and my message does not appear on my screen but the person I sent it to receives it just find. Same thing happens on my laptop but not on my wife's laptop. Which makes me think the problem is with my facebook account. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
