what would the pounding out the 1/4" indent in the center of the bottom of a metal .50 cal Army ammo canister do to the integrity of the seams in the canister. I'm trying to make one of these canister/box into a ham radio Go box with 12 ah battery, radio and other support items but it not all fitting with indent bump pushing the center items up. thanks

@DapperDad,
It shouldn't affect any of the welded seams. If I were attempting this I'd cut two pieces of wood (preferably hardwood but plywood would do) maybe two inches larger than the dimensions of the indent (a 10x4 piece of wood for an 8x2 indent). I'd tape one to the bottom, centered over the indent. I'd place the other one inside over the bump and hammer the bump flat by striking an 8" 2x4 with a heavy 3 or 4 pound hammer.
