do you agree with my new schools strict detention policy ?

i have just started at a new school, it gets first class grades but has a very strict detention policy, normal after school detentions are on a tuesday and friday they last for 1 and a half hours, students have to sit in silence and write an essay on why you are being punished, for more serious crimes saturday detention, we get a saturday detention for missing a reguler detention, or if you get 3 detentions in a term, these last for over 5 hours we have to be in school at 8:45 we have to wear full school uniform white shirt black skirt tie and a black blazer, we have a full school uniform inspection before going into the classroom, we then have to sit at our desks for 2 and a half hours and write an essay on why we are being punished, we then have a 15 minute break, then back to our desks for another 2 and a half hours we then have to copy out our essays, its sounds a misreable punishment, so far i havent got any detentions, i just wondered if these punishment would make you behave ?
