I live in england and go to a very strict school, last friday i had my first after school detention its for 1 and a half hours, as a punishment for messing about in class, we finish school at 3 :15 those in detention had to go to the detention room, the detention teacher made us stand outside the classroom in silence, she then told as to do our top buttons up and make sure our ties were neat and tidy, only then could we enter the classroom we had to stand behind our desks in TOTAL silence, the teacher then took the detention register and gave out the punishment essays, we all had to write about why we were being punished, my essay was on the importance of behaving in class ,after about 15 minutes we were told to sit down and begin our work, the teacher informed us that only now did the 1 and a half hours begin, detention was SO SO BORING on a fiday everyone is looking forward to the weekend and i was stuck in a classroom, by the time detention finished we got out of school 1 hour and 45 minutes late by the time i got home,i had to do homework, my evening was ruined but if we were allowed to do homework instead of essays we would still have some freetime when we get home what do you think ?

@imogen1234,
I think you’re full of bull. Credibility is not your strong suit. You’re in trouble both at home AND in school?

Why not tell us what your REAL purpose for asking these questions is?

@Ragman,
He/She wants attention for bullshit behavior. I don't think anything is real.

@imogen1234,
Although I agree with the beginning of detention should start in silence and adjustment of personal appearance, I disagree the remainder of the time should be spent on writing an essay about behavior deemed inappropriate. Nor do I feel you should get a jumpstart on homework. Detention shouldn't allow you to think your classroom time can be blown off.

I think certain discipline methods are quite closed minded and yes, boring. If writing essays about poor behavior actually worked, you wouldn't be back into the same situation as you are at home. The reality is, you don't think you've been doing anything wrong so making you write about your behavior is bullshit.

Having said that, I see you whining and complaining about the situations you've created for yourself and not much trying to fix issues. Come on, you know stealing vodka is wrong but you did it anyway. You know acting up in class gets you a detention, yet again, you did it anyway. What's your next trick you'll do to seek the attention and notoriety you crave? How bad does it actually have to get?

That is a question only you can answer.

And you're the only one that can make those changes, both positive and negative.

It does seem you'd like to be considered the "bad girl."

Yeah, bad girls wind up hurt, knocked up, jailed or dead.

Yeah, great future you've got planned.
