Happy Indigenous Peoples' Day! Today, as we recognize Indigenous peoples' resilience and impact on society, the Woody Guthrie Center honors and acknowledges that it resides in the traditional and unceded territories of the Creek (Mvskoke), Osage (Wahzhazhe), Quapaw (Ogaxpa), Wichita (Kitikiti’sh), Caddo (Kadohadacho) and Kickapoo (Kiikaapoi) tribal nations. We recognize these tribes and the many Indigenous tribal nations who have historically called Oklahoma home. By acknowledging the colonial history and its continuing impacts and correcting miseducation, we will no longer overlook how this land was occupied.
Today would be a good day to release Leonard Peltier.
