Gather? If it's hard to get the stuff out the bowl, a better word might be peel or file, see: https://www.thesaurus.com/browse/scrape#scratch-remove-outer-layer

Jesus swept, but you could use a ladle if your spatula was on the blink or the aspergillum if the mix was especially runny.

I would say spatulate, but that sounds awful, and I wouldn't want to eat something that was spatulated. You might have to settle for scrape with a spatula.
