AN INFINITE UNIVERSE

If the universe is truly infinite, then theoretically you would need to travel an infinite number of light years to find an exact duplicate of our part of the universe, as the infinite nature implies that every possible configuration of matter and energy would repeat somewhere within the vast expanse of space. Even if an exact duplicate exists, it could be so distant that it would be impossible to reach within the lifespan of the universe, due to the limitations of the speed of light. Be aware that infinite time is not a requirement, only infinite space. So even if something is extremely unlikely to happen, it will happen in an infinite universe; as long as the probability is greater than 0. In fact, it will happen an infinite number of times. Space is infinite in all directions and the fabric of space is continuously expanding.
