My mom and another family member have had a falling out because of the people caring for my aunt. My mom and this person are two of the people I love the most. The falling out is giving me anxiety because my mom feels really betrayed by my family member and I do not think they really meant to hurt my mom. They are just really close to the people caring for my aunt. Because of my insecurities about a health issue I am having, I wanted to ensure my other family member was not mad at me and would be there for me in the future. My mom does not know about this conversation I had in confidence. I did this to do what was best for me regarding the situation. Have I betrayed my mom?

@ConcernedDaughter1,
I don't think you have betrayed your mother. You don't have to agree on everything and you don't have to have the same feelings about everyone. You are two separate people. You don't have to adopt your mother's beliefs or perspectives. You are an individual with your own thoughts, needs, wants, etc. She also doesn't need to know everything you think, say, or do. You can still love both. And I applaud your statement, "I did this to do what was best for me regarding the situation." Your first need is to take care of yourself, whatever that looks like.

Can I ask how old you are?
