IDEALISM: A CONSCIOUSNESS-ONLY VIEW OF REALITY

Metaphysical idealism asserts that reality, or reality as we know it, is fundamentally mental in nature. Essentially, at the foundation of reality, we find purely transpersonal processes or more technically aperspectival and unconditioned consciousness. Reality is equivalent to mind, spirits or consciousness; that reality is entirely a mental construct; or that ideas are the highest type of reality or have the greatest claim to being considered "real". Metaphysical idealism suggests that conscious knowledge, value and purpose are the basic constructs of reality and what we call the material world only exists as an expression of appearance of reality. Metaphysical idealism is also opposed to various reactive forms of thought. The idealist sometimes extrapolates the concept of mind to embrace an infinite mind. Reality reveals it's ultimate nature more faithfully in it's highest qualities (mental) than in it's lowest (material).
