Astronomers found a colossal body of water that surpasses the combined volume of all the water on Earth by 140 trillion times. It is situated around a feeding black hole known as a quasar. This expansive cosmic water source is located more than 12 billion light years away, demonstrating that water is pervasive throughout the universe. The quasar at the center of this discovery is named APM 08279+5255 emitting energy equivalent to a thousand trillion Suns. Quasars are extremely luminous and energetic objects powered by supermassive black holes at the center of galaxies. The water vapor is distributed around the black hole in a gaseous region spanning hundreds of light-years. There's water vapor in the Milky Way although the total is 4,000 times less than in the quasar because most the Milky Way water is frozen in ice. The quasar is 30 billion trillion miles away and weighs 40 billion times the weight of Earth.
