WARP BUBBLE TECHNOLOGY

Warp bubble technology also known as warp drive, is a hypothetical engine that could allow a space-ship to travel at incredible speeds by manipulating the fabric of space-time itself. The engine would create a "warp bubble" around the ship that compresses space in front of it and expands space behind it. This would allow the craft to travel at incredible velocities. The ship itself would ride this wave of space-time and travel through the compressed space without actually moving itself. In theory, this could allow a spacecraft to travel faster than the speed of light by many orders of magnitude and thus would be able to cover vast distances in a short amount of time making interstellar flight possible. The warp drive would use equal quantities of positive and negative energy to create the warp bubble being indistinguishable from flat space. The ship would then be carried along as the bubble moves, allowing it to travel superluminally while its local velocity relative to the deformed space-time would be subliminal.
