Big fan of De Bono here:
I am working on a project to get my local council (government) to allow the public to pay them for planting new trees.
They have already run a scheme, that did not do well (6 trees), but my opinion is the PR was wrong. "Dedicating" trees to people, especially those that are deceased, is, I think, an important part of the idea, because name plaques are easily vandalized.
Instead, they used a "book" kept at the council office and a list of such names on an obscure council webpage. It did not work.
I want to retain the idea of some kind of memorial, park benches can have plaques in the UK - In memory of... I think it is a wonderful idea to have such memorials - regardless of religion or lack of, especially in these ecological times. I think the project could gain traction and become popular in our green spaces.
Here is what I want to PO. I need an effective way of identifying trees with people (or organizations) which is local to the tree.
