Laptop slower wifi speeds question

I have a ASUS VivoBook that is using a Realtek 8821ICE Wireless LAN 802.11ac PCI-E NIC Network adaptor. I have a 1 gig wifi connection. Using Ookla (speedtest.net) for speed tests I can only get around 225 to 275 Mbps download speeds to my Laptop. Speed testing my phone using the same web site and at the same location I get 695 to 725 Mbps. Provider has done all the trouble shooting they can do.
Why can't I get higher speeds to my laptop? Drivers are all updated, adaptor dedicated to 5g, distance from Router makes no difference.
Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance
