Have you seen this limited series? The first episode of the miniseries begins with a western soldier photographer in the middle east in a village. The enemy is coming and he’s helped inside a small home by a Iranian or Iraqi teen. They get along well. The photographer takes the boy’s picture with a 35mm camera. The boy has another 35 mm camera around his neck and is smiling.
Some more western soldiers show up. The leader of this group wants to shoot the boy and cutoff his finger to make 5 fingers he’s cut.
Later, the original soldier is in his New York apartment working as an artist. His agent lives two floors below. They both have laptops on tables that can see what’s going on in each others apartment.
The agent is talking to a beautiful female art curator. She wants to meet the artist upstairs, but the agent tells her he’s not interested in any relationship.
The artist and the agent have a conversation in the artist’s apartment. He’s painted a series he calls the first One of Nine. The photo of the boy from the Middle East is in a black and white blowup in the apartment.
The curator follows the artist to a seedy part of town. She rips her dress. The artist selects her from among the streetwalkers.
He doesn’t allow her to speak. He wants “half and half”. They are in the artist’s apartment. He has sex. In the morning he tells the hooker curator she can stay in the apartment. He’s drawn a portrait of her wrapped in a white sheet.
Later, someone from the artist’s past shows up at the apartment looking for him. There are a lot of guns in the apartment.
That’s all I can remember. I don’t know the name of the miniseries, nor the names of any of the characters or actors.
