We've known each other a few years through mutual friends, but we really only talk in person. I recently realized I'd like to get to know him better, as we seem to always have a good time together. He added me back on snap, but I'm not sure what to do from here. I did send him one funny snap that pertained to our last conversation. The problem is, I didn't make it a question or open-ended. He opened it but didn't reply. I've had a few negative experiences that cause me to be hesitant with these things. Sometimes I take neutral signals as negative. So, what do you think? Is there still a chance at getting to know him better? If so, how?

I understand that, I'm just saying I want to get to know him better. Like I said, we see each other in settings with mutual friends, and not super often. It wasn't until the last time we hung out that I started wanting to get to know him more than just the occasional run in.

Sit or stand beside him at your mutual gatherings and talk to him. Ask him out for a coffee.

Talk to him whenever you get a chance. Invite him to see each other outside of these mutual friends based hangouts. Dinner or a coffee at a cafe.
Email or text him (or your choice of social media) into conversations.
Give him an autopsy.
How does one get to know anything well?
