destructive Firefox notification

When I open my bank account website, I get the following message:
"This page is slowing down Firefox. To speed up your browser, stop this page" this is followed by a box with the word "stop" In it. If I click on it, the website freezes and I can't do anything on it except close it. While in task manager I see the resource uses for Firefox are CPU 8% and memory 1.8 MB
Can someone tell me why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?

@jameslbirke,
I get those messages occasionally from Firefox when visiting different webpages. I just close the webpage and reopen another instance of it without getting that message again. If it persists specifically with your bank account webpage try using another browser; Firefox may have trouble rendering the webpage.
