At a certain level of maturity one can perceive himself (all his interactions, behaviors, relations) from a perspective. He can just imagine, visualize, evaluate and assess his deeds and postures as if he was a third party playing role on a scene. He is able for a honest 'third-person' narration about himself. That ability is a base for ethical and moral decisions.
I cannot recall that term.
It is a simple word, no "...ism".
In a phrase is sounds like "He can deliberate ...." or "He is mature enough and he has the ability of xxxxxx ...tion"

No, it was a different term.
Empathy is more from emotional sphere, could be even a bit unconscious.
That skill I ask for is rather a way of thinking, completely conscious ability to consider yourself as an actor on a scene.
