In addition to the series of films that are showing this year, Marvel still has a number of interesting films that will be released in 2023. One of them is Captain Marvel 2, or The Marvels, which will be part of Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Apart from Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), in this film there are also two other great characters who will return. They are Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) and Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel (Faith Vellani).
Interestingly, because the ending of Ms. Marvel has revealed Kamala is a mutant, meaning The Marvels movie has the potential to introduce other interesting characters too. Especially the mutants who fans have been anticipating for a long time. Since Marvel has returned the rights to the X-Men characters, it's only a matter of time until the mutants appear in the main universe of the MCU. Where The Marvels is the film that has the most potential to introduce them.
Ms. Marvel Brings Mutants To The Marvels
In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Marvel has actually spawned a mutant icon through its alternate universe. He is Charles Xavier aka Professor X (Patrick Stewart), the head of the mutant school and founder of the superhero group X-Men. While the existence of mutants in the main universe, it was only revealed in episode 6 of the Ms. Marvel entitled 'No Normal'. Towards the end of the final episode, Bruno (Matt Lintz) spoke to Ms. Marvel that he's more than just a Djinn. Where in his body there is a mutation so that he can be like now.
This revelation must have taken many fans by surprise, considering that at Marvel Comics Ms. Marvel is not a mutant but an Inhuman. Although Marvel hasn't issued an official statement yet, there is a possibility that they did change his origins to become a mutant. With the credit scene, Ms. Marvel which gave rise to Captain Marvel, it is not impossible that The Marvels movie will explore the origin of mutants further. Where is Ms. Marvel was introduced as the first MCU mutant who managed to 'unlock' his powers after wearing a magic bracelet.
After wearing the bracelet that she inherited from her great-grandmother, Ms. Marvel is indeed proven to be able to issue crystals only with his imagination. In the final episode of the series, he was even able to make the crystal cover his body like armor. This power is similar to that of a mutant in Marvel Comics named Hisako Ichiki aka Armor. Marvel indeed quite often combines two comic characters into one individual in the MCU. For the case of Ms. MCU version of Marvel, it seems he was born from a combination of Kamala and Hisako in Marvel Comics.
Many Mutants in The Marvels Movies?
If true Ms. Marvel is a mutant, The Marvels movie has the opportunity to introduce even more mutants in the main MCU universe. As we know, Monica Rambeau's character will also be one of the stars in the film. That means, The Marvels could have revealed that Monica also turned out to be a mutant. Where he 'unlocks' his superpower after breaking through the energy wall in the WandaVision series, which has indirectly changed his genetic structure. With the presence of Ms. Marvel and Monica, it makes sense for The Marvels to explore the origins of mutants.
Now the question is, will the film bring out the original mutants from Marvel Comics? To bring up X-Men members, such as Wolverine, Cyclops, or Storm, is certainly not an easy thing for Marvel. Because they will be more suitable to appear after The Marvels movie explains in more detail the existence of mutants in the main MCU universe. Instead, Marvel may first bring up minor mutants that are quite impactful for the future of mutants. Because only then, the entry of mutants into the MCU becomes more 'natural'.
There were rumors that the Marvel panels at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con 2022 and D23 would introduce the X-Men cast. If true, that means the mutants will arrive sooner than we thought, of which The Marvels movie is one of the foundations of the plot. The SDCC event is scheduled to take place on 23 July and D23 on 9 September – 11 September. Then we can see The Marvels itself on July 28, 2023. So, let's just wait for the reveal of these MCU mutants, okay?
@perdana303,
Disney is marketing towards theater whores and I could not care about the crap they release or do anymore. They are worthless asides for some cartoonishly propaganda Scandalous moments. That is about it. They are dead to me.
The actors do not respect the parts they play.
The y deformed the characters appearance so much it affects the comics Marvel makes.
It is pathetic and sad.
........................................................................................................................
More fictional characters to day dream about....not helping anybody,
Even Spider-man they screwed up.
@PoliteMight,
So far, if you look at the story from comic marvel and compare it to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there are indeed many differences that occur.
Maybe there are some who hope that the story in the comic can be used as a live action in accordance with the original story.
There may also be some who hope that a little difference can be made from the story in the comic so that it invites the curiosity of the audience.
There are several reasons but it all comes back to profit.
😊
Crap mutants no Middenface McNulty, no Johnny Alpha, no The Torso from Newcastle, just the incredibly dull X men, yawn and double yawn.
