We were promised flying cars... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... .. we can assume we dodged that bullet?

Imagine a hundred car pileup like we sometimes get on the highway, except beginning in the sky. Pileups could get in the thousands.

That video is dumb.

1. We already invented the flying car in terms of a drone type vehicle that could hover in place like a helicopter, and would move via a flight path that is not in the way of planes, and other vehicles like helicopters.

The vehicle would have a landing pad area ( which most likely would be a building to allow landing, housing, and transport of the vehicles. Otherwise a person could also have a big enough back yard, or open spot to land the car if one is available.

You have the money and time you could invent a flying vehicle, as long as it is able to take off like hover craft and land like a hover craft and not inside a street area but a landing pad.

Beyond that at the moment helicopters are the current mode of transport that a flying car would be based on.

Again we are talking about a drone type vehicle that could take off, land, and transform at will.

The problem is that your thinking like a cartoon or method of driving in the old way. We are thinking that people would be on a flight path that could be spaced out ( like boats ) but in the air.

Think like a boat path, or even Helicopters. Do not think like "Back to the future" or "Jetsons" with a floating highway but more like "Futurama" where the highway.

A flying car would be more like a jumping vehicle. You go up in one big curve and come down in one big curve. Or go up and down like a rectangle edge via projectory of destination.

FAA might have a few problems with flying cars, too.

That's what I was thinking. Plus the noise would likely exceed city laws. And then you'd have to police them - drunken drivers, air rage incidents, crashes into buildings, license and registration checks, distracted flying, etc. Be a nightmare. Plus, where would you put stop and yield signs, etc.? Who'd have the right-of-way? Why would we want this anyway?

Well, the right of way is the same as at a four way stop sign. It belongs to whoever is going the fastest.

1. Right now if you had any flying vehicle it would be drone-based.
2. It would legally not flow into traffic of any flight paths like Airline, President, or even those shipping drones. For example having a drone in the path of something like an airplane is considered illegal. Meaning you want that shot it would have to be way far and your drone would have to be out of the path of the plane itself.
3. As with the Google-Cars ( etc ) it would most likely be automatic flying system. AKA "Take me to this place" or "Take me to that place".
4. Right now somebody is making such service right now. You can go into a building, the vehicle will pick up at a max weight, and transport you to an identical safe location.
5. The reality with cars you do not need a license. We only have license because the amount of power it gives somebody. A flying car ( drone based )
while it could and would work like a car would literally look like an invention from "honey I shrunk the kids" ( if you can remember that science nut )

Or who has the bigger crappier car!
