Can someone please settle a discussion! Is Cota Kinablu in Borneo or Malaysia?

Kota Kinabalu, formerly known as Jesselton, is a city in Malaysia. The part of Malaysia that Kota Kinabalu is on, is on the island of Borneo.

So the answer to your question is really both!
