Pragmatism is a philosophical tradition that coincides words and thoughts as tools and instruments for prediction, problem solving, and action and rejects the idea that the function of thought is to describe, represent, or mirror reality. The pursuit of practicality over aesthetic qualities; a concentration on facts rather than emotions or ideals. The quality of dealing with a problem in a sensible way that suits the conditions that really exist, rather than following fixed theories, ideas or rules. Pragmatism contends that most philosophical topics- such as the nature of knowledge, language, concepts, meaning, beliefs and science- are all best viewed in terms of their practical uses and successes. Pragmatism rejects unpractical beliefs and ideas and encourages scientific inquiry. Since what meaningful ideas work one day may not work in the future, the pragmatist accepts that the truth also changes and there is no ultimate truth.
