MTL stamped on ring

I have a queen victoria sovereign mounted in a possibly?gold ring.On the outside of the ring band is what looks like a v in a circle and the letters MTL.Any ideas??

Sovereigns are worth just over £300 depending on condition, which usually includes a certificate of authenticity.

Sovereigns are issued by the Royal Mint, if you go to their website you might find the answer there or you could email them.
