Nope. Unless the Senate ratifies the treaty it can simply be disregarded by the next president.

@hightor,
Correct... just as Trump did with the treaty he inherited.

But if he does and it is successful the odds of it being changed again are less. Always this do nothing because the future reasons given for little or no action.

@edgarblythe,
And has made strong, significant progress achieving it.

Having a rational mind in the Oval Office has been paying off.

@bobsal u1553115,
A treaty, such as the one Obama signed, without significant, verifiable, commitments to take truly effective action in eliminating any nuclear arms capability in Iran, is of little value …. as any rational mind would quickly grasp.

@georgeob1,
You got it all backwards. Obama had a program that was working, with the Iranians cooperating with the inspection regime.

45 got the Iranian nuclear programing going again.

Yeah, you really think he can get approval of 2/3 of the Senate? He has a hard time getting the 50 Democrats to pass important legislation.

Always this attitude that the president can simply rule by decree, snap his fingers, overcome every obstacle put in his way – both institutional and political – and accomplish every item on some progressive wish list.

@hightor,
You seem bent on helping Biden fail.

@bobsal u1553115,
The program "that was working" did not provide the U.S. with real assurance that Iranians were not continuing uranium enrichment in any of the many existing research & testing sites that were excluded (by the Iranians) from the agreed inspection regime. Obama ended then very effective economic sanctions (that were then already causing growing popular dissatisfaction with the autocratic Islamist regime) for the illusion that the Iranian government was complying with our requirements. In short the thing "that was working" did not significantly resolve our legitimate concerns. Serious concerns on this point yielded significant opposition in the Senate for the treaty and, for that reason Obama did not even try to get the required ratification of the treaty, which, without that, had no binding effect on the Unites Stares.

Do you really think that Biden needs any help in this area? So far he's doing it all exceedingly well his own initiative.

You seem bent on raising people's expectations unrealistically, setting Biden up to fail, and then criticizing him when he can't accomplish these impossible things because of institutional factors and political realities.

@georgeob1,
You mean other than all US intelligence agencies?

The centrifuge sabotage got their attention.

When they entered into a regime of verifiable ending of their nuclear program, all of a sudden their economy got better.

Trump took their incentive to stay disarmed away. And he couldn't pull off another Stuxnet. I imagine 45's bowels were unfettered once he realized how badly fucked up and precisely so the Iranian missile response was to the US base in Syria over the droning of an Iranian Cabinet Minister. Trump almost ha his own Khobiar Towers or Lebanon US Marine Camp bombing.

45 was nincompoop with incredible luck and breaks.
