I was just outside cutting some grass alongside my driveway. Halfway through the job the lawn mower started surging -- fast, then slow, fast, slow over and over. I shut it off, wheeled it into the shed, and tinkered with a few things. Checked the plug, air filter, that sort of thing. Wheeled it back outside, fired it up, and noticed the same thing happening.
I shut it back off, went back to the shed and grabbed a sledge hammer off the bench. Then I went outside and spent about forty five minutes smashing the hell out of that infernal machine, cursing all the while.
Finally, the machine in ruin, I grabbed it by the handle and started swinging in circles, finally releasing the machine and hurling it into the ravine. It fell into a heap on top of assorted other pieces of machinery that I have tossed in there over the years.
Did I overreact? I suppose I should have had a cigarette or something to calm my nerves before I went after that sledge hammer. Too late now.
So, off to the store to buy another friggin' lawn mower.
Yes, I do. Very good observation.
I thought I recognized the technique.
Yes you over reacted. You should have removed the salvageable parts first and peddled them at your next yard sale.
That's probably where he got that piece of crap in the first place.
I would have humiliated it first, dressed it up in in a tu-tu and paraded it before other lawnmowers. I would have harrassed it about secretly being gay. Only then would I have grabbed the sledge hammer.
You have a sledge hammer?
But of course. Don't all A2Kers have sledge hammers?
Hmmm, perhaps a new thread is in order.
I have a hmm... whatzitcalled?
A mallet, I have a mallet. It's got a hard rubber side and a soft rubber side.
Here's a pic of me and my mallet.
That's a very nice photo of you, littlek, and you do indeed have a nice mallet, but we are discussing sledge hammers....
well, then, I'll just take my mallet and leave.
All I've got is a tiny little ball-peen hammer.
I feel so inadequate.
There's a ravine in the swamp?
There's a ravine by the swamp. You very seldom find ravine in swamps.
Are you from Wisconsin or something?
I am.
Is this a mountaintop swamp?
This swamp is in the mountains, yes.
Next question.
