If someone wanted to donate backpacks filled with stuff like gloves, hats, dog food, and emergency blankets; would you take it?
Some of the homeless shelters are turning things like that down.
Others say that it'll make those with a backpack like that are more likely to have it stolen or get mugged.
But, the people saying that aren't actually homeless themselves. May have never been homeless.
And isn't theft and such a risk one way or another?
What do you guys think?

So, what are the homeless shelters themselves saying about turning down those backpacks?
@drop77,
I agree you should ask a homeless shelter what they need, but your friends who are telling you you will likely get mugged, that feels like straight up bigotry.
@InfraBlue,
It's up to us if we take them or not.
As for why the homeless shelters themselves are turning those backpacks down, they said things along the lines of , "all client needs are different," and that they're focusing on programs, "not transactional interactions.'
@drop77,
Why don't you ask the homeless shelters what items you can donate?
@drop77,
If you are buying stuff for these backpacks, consider just donating the money.
