Mispelled Business Cards

I’ve been working a job where for the most part I enjoy everyone I work with and definitely enjoy the job itself and am learning new things. Recently however the business cards I have been asking about for months have come in and when I got home and looked at them my name was spelled wrong and my phone number was completely wrong. Here is the email that I sent to four people in the office.

Glad you guys are making everyone business cards. Can we get some new ones with the correct spelling of my name and the correct phone number? What’s the expected date that we’d have them?
My name is spelled-
This is my phone #-

Was this the right way to handle this in anyone else’s experience?

@Silvertongue700,
Sounds like the best approach, to me. Hope it works.

@roger,
Reason I’m asking is because when I called my boss the next day to ask about something else I needed help with I first asked what happened with the business cards and he said yeah we f’ed up. Then he said he HATED the email that I sent and that it was rude. What do you think?

@Silvertongue700,
Your boss has a problem. How else was he to know that your info was wrong if you don't alert him? You were polite and professional. In no way was that rude. Whoever proofed them before they went to the printers made a mistake. Anyway, cards are as cheap as all get out these days. But, No, IMO, you were not rude.

@Silvertongue700,
I think your boss has over reacted.

He probably thinks your tone is a bit sarcastic, I don’t think it is, but the second sentence could be construed as such.

I wouldn’t use the first sentence either, it sounds like they’ve only just got round to it.

I would be very formal in future.

“I have just received my business cards. Unfortunately the phone number is wrong and my name is not spelled correctly.

Please could you send me some replacements with the correct details,my phone number is and my name is spelled.

Could you let me know how long the replacements will take.

Thank you”

You're all a lot nicer than I am. A desk sign for my cube was misspelled in I think it was 1998 and I just glanced at it and pitched it in the trash within ten seconds of receiving it.

No one had bothered to ask me how my name is spelled. Adding to the fun is that my name is hyphenated (maiden-married name), and the sign had just my husband's last name. Which was misspelled.

This was the work of a secretary in the department who insisted, no matter how many times I told her not to, on referring to me as Mrs. my husband's last name, as opposed to Ms. maiden-married name (which is my real life name). She was corrected many, many times.

It's been over 2 decades and of course I recognize I wasn't very professional. But neither was she -- and not confirming before spending money and ordering was a pretty bad move on her part as well.

You did nothing wrong.

@jespah,
Speaking of names and people, everyone tries to shorten my name. Say it's Victoria and I go by Victoria, as has my family my whole life. My name is NOT Vicki. This one lady at work persisted in calling me Vicki, no matter how many times I asked her not to. After a while, say her name was Lori, I'd answer her "Okay, Lauren" or "Sure thing, Lorraine". She'd say, "My name's not Lauren" and I'd reply, "And my name's not Vicki"... it took about 10 times before she stopped doing that.

@Mame,
Uh oh! At one time I was calling you Mamexx, with the xx's being the first two letters of your first name. Hope you weren't too offended those many years ago.
