THE ODDS OF YOU BEING BORN

Have you ever asked yourself- what are the odds of you being born as the person you are, in that shape and form. Taking how big the human population is, and how fast it is growing, it has been mathematically calculated that the odds of you being born is 1 in 400 trillion. Without you being born there is no you able to experience the world, think about the probabilities, and read these words to begin with. It is far more likely you will meet one person multiple times accidentally in different parts of the world, get struck by lightning, find a six leaf clover, or die from a coconut than being born into this world. But we're just getting started. Because your existence here, now and on planet Earth presupposes another supremely unlikely and utterly undeniable chain of events. Namely, that every one of your ancestors lived to reproductive age- going all the way back not just to your prehistoric relatives, but all the way back to the first single-celled organism. You are a representative of an unbroken lineage of life going back four billion years. The odds of you existing today are just about zero.
