Please explain this clue - thanks

La mer is French for the sea.
La bra is the undergarment and dor is golden.

So where this happens is in France.

However, for a Lovatts cryptic crossword puzzle I think this clue/answer is extremely difficult for the average cryptic crossword puzzle solver.

If I am unable to solve a clue I will use the hint for a letter and occasionally I might need one or two letters. It is very rare that I need the whole word.

In 99.9% of cases I can work backwards and understand the clue but there is no way I would have ever got this one, which is why I asked online.

Q: Do you know of any websites which can help with cryptic clues?
