My eraser left a glossy mark from erasing pencil on canvas. Does anyone know how to remove the glossy spot on the canvas left by the eraser?

What kind of eraser did you use? If it's a hard green or red one try one of the soft kneadable ones or a gum eraser.

70 percent alcohol then brush it off when dry
A 30cc, 4-cycle gas powered WEED WACKER should do the job.

Do you prime your canvases with gesso?? Only Helen Frankenthalr painted directly on unprimed canvases
Why not just overpaint the smudges and start painting on top.
