BLOCK UNIVERSE THEORY

The block universe theory describes "now" as an arbitrary place in time, and states that the past, present, and future, all exist simultaneously. Time is just an illusion that our brains merely believe time to be moving forward in a linear fashion. Our universe might be an enormous four-dimensional block of space-time, containing all the events that ever happened and will happen in our traditional perception of time. Every moment of your life is out there, somewhere, in space-time. It often seems as though where we are "today" is present and "yesterday" is past and "tommorow" is future. So from our perspective it appears that time flows or passes. But in the block universe model, time doesn't flow. In a block universe there is no specific present moment, and "past" and "future" movements are relative. Time or temporal relations of "earlier than" and "later than" exist. These relations hold regardless of where anyone is located. As a result of this theory you have no free-will, and your future already exists. Your past and all your thoughts and feelings that you ever experienced and will ever have, were simply predetermined. The distinction between past, present, and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion. Einstein's general theory of relativity is considered to be the closest to the true answer of what the universe means on a cosmological level. So it is not unreasonable to imagine a block universe as actually existing. If true, the future is already out there. Everything that is going to happen has already happened.
