My friends controlling wife !

I am friends with a couple the man is a musician like me !
I have never known a woman who is so controlling and aggressive.
She is always putting him down and getting angry with him and telling him what to do ! She has terrible anxiety problems ! and blames him for making her feel the way she does ! Needy and controlling ???
She is a big woman and has low self esteem !
She has a go at him in front of me and he just looks wide eyed at me and is embarrassed ! I think he is very scared of her !.
She has asked me what i think of her but i just said she was ok !
and kept my nose out of their business.
But this is mental cruelty !
I know her game !
She thinks that he needs her because she is insecure and doesn't want him to leave her. So she totally controls him and is angry and demanding.
His mental health is suffering and its hard to watch.
Should i talk to him and give him some support ????
