We've all heard the joke that goes like this:
Me: "I just bought these paper clothes."
Friend: "How do you like them?"
Me: " They're terrible." (Tear-able)
Terrible means bad, like this joke, but is there a word "tearable", as in the example: " the cloth was tearable, (rip) As opposed to terrible (bad).
Never heard of "tearable"...but I am a big NFL fan, and I remember a time a couple of decades ago when the running backs all wore tear-away jerseys. The idea was that a defensive player was not able to grab onto the jersey and bring the runner to a halt. The Jersey would actually just tear away. (The running backs used to have several spare jerseys on the sidelines.)
They are illegal now. You cannot wear a jersey that is tearable.
Now that I think about it, though, tearable should apply to onions. Some are tearable...and some ain't. Same with movies. Some are tearable...and others, not so much.
