As we can see the most advanced and the most frequently used propulsion system for spacecrafts is nuclear. But can you name propulsion system that is rather good for space journeys as nuclear and in some time of development can substitute the most frequently used propulsion system?

First there are many many types of systems that coming under the label of nuclear and the one I love is the brute force Project Orion
Quote: intended to be directly propelled by a series of explosions of atomic bombs behind the craft
Next nuclear of any type is hardly the most common system for propulsion!!!!!!!!
@BillRM,
Have you heard about the one that is remade from plastic waste? cientists from one space company figured out how to remake plastic waste into rocket fuel that has already been successfully tested.
@bearnard45,
You can made rocket fuel from anything that will burn including gun powder or gasoline so what?
@bearnard45,
Footnote during WW2 the Germans fuel V2 out of ethanol made from 30 tons each of potatoes.
@BillRM,
The type of the rocket fuel that is remade from plastic has already been tested. The test has shown that the new type of rocket fuel is 1% - 3% better than kerosene by its energy characteristics. Frankly to say, I am not sure if this kind of fuel can be used for long space journeys.

Lot of rocket fuels are better then kerosene and hardware is must more costly then the fuel happen to be so small saving if fuel costs are minor compare to other costs.
@BillRM,
The
alternative rocket fuel also called as a green fuel can be remade only from particular types of plastic.The following types of plastic can be converted into ecosene fuel: Polypropylene (PP).
Polyester (PE).
Polystyrene (PS) and their mixtures and analogs
