@farmerman,
Agreed. French Press pot. I’ve bought and used a few and the glass has to be thick. This makes for much tastier flavor. Firstly, glass needs to be thick as they retain the heat better. Secondly, it is less breakable. Over the last 5 years I’ve broken two of the 4 I’ve owned just with simple handling. Not too much fun.
I recommend using only the freshest beans. I grind my beans just before I make the coffee using a conical-burr grinder. Good ones don’t come cheaply but cost around $75-100 that keep working and can grind consistently and coarse grind for use in French Press.
Lastly, pick tasty beans . I love Pete’s “Big Bang” whole beans, available everywhere. I want the freshest beans but the local market only has the pre- ground and it’s not often as fresh so I order directly from Pete’s mail order department . Delivery is quick. I also use another whole bean coffee brand Volcanica Ethiopian Yirgacheffe (Med to dark roast). Mail order delivery comes quickly too.
This is my recipe for fantastic coffee. Not cheap, not fast in making but what a way to start the day!
