Hologram Question

I heard 2 different ideas regarding holograms. Leonard Suskind says if you cut up a hologram, it looks like random nonsense. the information, while there, is encoded. Gregg Braden says you can take the smallest fragment of a hologram, look at it under the microscope and see the entire picture. That seems to be contradictory. Comments?
