I've been trying for ages to find anything verifiable about this needle work, or the artwork it's based on. Hopefully someone here can help.

Here is what I have so far:
The needlepoint: https://www.crewsgenealogy.com/wiki/File:The_Pillage_of_Castle_Basil.jpg
A newspaper article from about 1915: https://www.crewsgenealogy.com/wiki/File:The_Boston_Globe_Sun_Nov_21_1915_.jpg
My research: https://www.crewsgenealogy.com/wiki/Castle_of_Basil

With all that, I can't find anything on this as a actual location. Maybe a fictional location. I can't find anything on the actual work it was based one, even though the article says it was quite popular for its time. The dates in the article don't seem to add up, so I'm not really sure how accurate it is at all, so it really could be much older or newer. Any help would be appreciated.

@the1gofer,
It looks like a scene from the English Civil War, the soldiers look like Parliamentarian soldiers or “Roundheads.” as they were commonly called.

There is no castle Basil, but there is a town in Essex called Basildon and there are castles nearby.

After the restoration of the monarchy under Charles II the Royalist movement was romanticised and still is to a certain extent, Royal Oak being a popular pub name.

This embroidery looks like something made to depict the ‘awful behaviour’ of the Roundheads at a later date.

Sorry I can’t be of any more help.
