Can my (restaurant) employer force me to take tips on a paycard?

My employer is issuing a paycard for every member; in which they receive their tips next business day. This is essentially mandatory; unless we wish to wait 2 weeks for it to be direct deposited. I would assume we keep cash tips.
This seems to be highly illegal, has the paycard would, I would assume, have ATM withdrawal fees and other fees attached. I would guess they are doing this to claim more tax refund/credits; but will probably claim it's due to covid.
according to the one .gov I saw, it said they are not allowed to require paycards without another alternative; but the 2-week direct deposit could be their alternative. Smells fishy.
