Which sentence is clearer and a better choice:

The insured made a flooring selection and the material was ordered.
or
The insured made a flooring selection and we ordered the material.

I think this one is better in this particular case; "....we ordered the material" is more direct and lively.

The second one. The first one is in passive voice, the second is in active.

Unless you have a good reason for using passive voice (public relations apology, subtle indication of powerlessness, something like that), then use active voice every single time.
