I very much value the company of our members from Britain. I thought i would start a thread to say how much i regret their tragedy, and express the anguish i feel on their behalf. There was little the rest of the world could have said to console Americans on September 11th, and i doubt there is much i could say to console the English today. But i do hope that i've said all that i could.
Setanta, do you remember oldandknew (John of England)
I just received a PM from him saying:
We've just been bombed.
I can't believe the timing on this thing.
Does he say that he and his are OK?
That message has an ominous tone.
He was in a library. He said that he would be back, maybe tomorrow. I have no idea what the consequences are for him or his family. His pc has been down for some time.
As an American living here , I've come to love this country and these people - really have taken them to my heart and feel that they are a part of me and I am a part of them. My heart is breaking for the people who were hurt and killed and for their families. Another wound and scar with effects that we will all have to live with forever - more violence and hate perpetuated in the name of what? Why?

I hope all UK A2Kers will check in soon so we know they are all OK.
Words cannot express my sorrow, tears cannot wipe away the horror.

Thanks Letty, for the news about OldandKnew. I'm glad you still keep in touch.
I'm a confirmed Anglophile... I can't explain all the reasons why I like Great Britain so much, but I do. This makes me feel very sad and personally threatened. If there is a capital of the world, then London would be it.
Things are NOT right with the world as I had hoped, Piffka.
Thank God that Setanta started this thread!
Letty, have you seen the other threads on this subject? This has the most information:

Glad OAK is OK.
Nicely written, Setanta, I agree.
So do I. I couldn't have said it better. Thanks, Setanta.
Thank you Setanta, I agree as well. My prayers
to all the victims and their families and I am glad to hear,
that our a2k Brits are all accounted for and doing well.
My heart goes out to them.
Will those who do know of our friends, and know that they are alright--please leave a message to that effect--and thank you.
hi Letty, one & all. ---------------------
yeah we are ok. watched the TV yesterday. we live about 40 miles from Kings Cross, though I used that station every day for years.
thankfull for small mercies.
John oak, welcome back. Needless to say we were all concerned. Why we even dedicated songs to you on WA2K radio. <smile>
Good idea set
Things I learned in my 2 years studying for my A levels in Wales:
Appreciate the humour of spike milligan and monty pythom
Drink tea with warm milk and loads of sugar
Stay clear of orange squash
Appreciate Yorkshire Pudding
Develop a taste for malt whiskey
And finally: appreciate the courage and complexity of our dear "cousins"
OaK!!!!!
You've made my day!
Welcome Home, old friend!
We were worried about you. Thought something awful must have happened to you. Please don't go away again.
I missed my dancing partner.

Thank you for starting this thread, Setanta, I needed a place to post my thoughts and sincere regret for the sadness that has fallen upon Britain. Here's also hoping that all of these a2k'ers are well.
Well, colorbook. I was expecting to see a poem from you. Hard to do now, isn't it.
Well, Set, well said. I think John Oak may be posting from an internet cafe, or some such thing. Didn't think he'd gotten a new pc that quickly.
Tarah still hasn't been accounted for, however.
Thank you everyone, I'll try and hang on here.
I followed Tony Bush & Geo. Blair up the garden path and wow. The slings & arrows of outragious fortune have come home to roost, big time.
Now our 2 heroes are trying too reinvent the wheel, only the spokes are a bit short.
Hold onto your hats, this roller coaster is in overdrive & ready to go.
