In how many different ways can 3 identical green shirts and 3 identical red shirts be distributed among 6 children such that each child receives a shirt?

A. 20

B. 40

C. 216

D. 720

E. 729

I'm thinking this is a factorial question.

6! = 6 x 5 x 4 x 3 x 2 x 1

6! = 720

I say the answer is D.

Is this right?

@blueridge,
No because you can't tell the same color shirts apart. You need to divide n! by the number of each identical shirts factorial, so 6!/3!/3! = 720/6/6=20

@engineer,
Ok. You are saying to do this:

6!/(6•6)

720/36

Answer: 20

Look for my questions. I love answering math questions.

P. S. I am not a student looking for homework help.
I am a lonely baby boomer that has decided to make
answering math questions a hobby.
