Running power to a shed

I Want to wire my shed for lights and outlets. The shed is about 100 feet from the house. The meter to the house is about 5-7 feet from the shed, the question is can they run power from the meter for my house to a breaker box in my shed? or do they have to run from the house breaker box to a box in my shed?

Depends where you live, but, best way to go is to get a sub panel in your shed that hooks to a breaker on you box in the house.

Where I live, they will only run from meter to main breaker box.

@crpowell67,
Contact your power Co. They will give you what information you need.
