Genetic legacy & the illusion of human 'worth'

One day the sun will burn out and all life on earth will cease.

It's very unlikely that humans will ever populate other parts of the cosmos in order to escape our fate as a species.

None of your great grand descendants will survive this. Your genetic legacy will die out.

Why then are people who have no children either through circumstance or by choice treated so poorly and looked down upon?

Why are human beings so full of themselves, as if their flash-in-the-pan existences matter at all in the grand scheme.

Childless adults are viewed as "less than" people.

Childless adults are seen as being less trustworthy and less deserving of opportunities and advancement in the workplace.

Is there any way to counterbalance this?

Perhaps the only recourse is to recognize the silliness of it all.

Humans have such an undeserved high opinion of themselves.

Cows and goats give birth also. It's a biological function, not a refinable life skill.

It really is laughable that Becky from accounting would think herself more special than Nikola Tesla just because he didn't have offspring, but she did.
